Appeals & Complaints

Appeals

Authors who believe a decision on their manuscript was based on a significant error or misunderstanding may submit an appeal within 30 days of the decision, by email to editorial@populacejournal.org, with the subject line "Appeal: [manuscript ID]". The appeal must explain clearly, point by point, why the decision should be reconsidered. Disagreement with the reviewers' conclusions alone is not sufficient grounds.

Each appeal is assessed by an editor who was not involved in the original decision, who may seek additional expert advice. Only one appeal per manuscript is considered, and the outcome of the appeal is final. The manuscript must not be submitted elsewhere while the appeal is under consideration.

Complaints

Complaints about the journal's processes, editorial conduct or published content can be sent to editorial@populacejournal.org. We acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and aim to provide a full response within 30 days. Complaints are handled confidentially, in line with COPE guidance. Complaints involving the Editor-in-Chief are handled by a Deputy Editor-in-Chief or another senior member of the editorial leadership who has no conflict of interest.
